Organic Gardening Pest Control

Which Method Of Organic Gardening Pest Control Should You Use?

There are various organic gardening pest control methods that you can use to help rid your garden of the different types of pests that may damage it. Which pest control method you use will depend on the type of pest you are trying to rid your garden of.

If you have different sized animals attacking your organic garden, but don’t want to harm them, you can use Havahart Traps. These are pest control products used for live-trapping animals. You can buy different sizes to meet the needs of your animal pest. They are easy to set up and safe for you and your children to be around (even your own animal pet friends). They work great!

If your pest problem is really big, such as deer, you will need a different form of organic gardening pest control.

Deer are known to be huge pests for organic gardeners, not only because of their size, but because they are able to do so much damage in a short period of time.

You can try installing deer fencing or using repellents. Or you can be savvy and plant foods that deer don’t like to eat, which are known as deer-resistant plants.

You have likely heard about moles, but not everyone has heard of an equally big problem – the vole.

These are small “field mice” that eat up your organic gardens.

They are similar to moles because they dig holes (or exit routes) throughout your garden; not to mention they eat up your garden and store some food for later in their vole holes.

Some of these vole holes are just beneath the earth, looks like raised ridges (think bugs bunny) and the other is much deeper, connecting feeding tunnels beneath your organic garden.

Another known pest is the beetle. Not all beetles are harmful to your organic garden, but if you find beetles in your garden that are destroying it, you will need an organic gardening pest control product, so that you won’t harm your garden.

There is a Japanese beetle that sheds is exoskeleton on lawns and gardens; this causes rotting of the plants, especially roses and grapes.

Instead of using bag beetle traps, you can knock off the exoskeletons into a bucket of soapy water. Or you can cover your garden with floating row covers to keep the beetles off completely. Kaolin clay spray (Surround) is a plant friendly way of keeping beetles off.
